Regent’s Park’s location within the city makes it the perfect place to visit the various, different celebrations that take place over New Year’s Eve. You can’t look at London’s NYE festivities without thinking of the world-famous fireworks display, which takes place near to the London Eye and the River Thames.
Back With a Bang!
Sadly, due to the COVID pandemic, the event hasn’t been held since 2019, however we’re glad to report that they’re coming back with a bang (quite literally) this year. Regent’s Park is only a 10-minute tube ride to Waterloo Station and the river’s edge, so it’s the ideal place to stay to make the most of the celebrations, but to then have a quieter place to escape to after the celebrations.

Plentiful Supply of Restaurants and Dining Options
Regent’s Park is also close to the ever-vibrant Soho and Covent Garden, both of which are full of great places to eat and drink before you head to the fireworks.
The Morning After the Night Before
Meanwhile, if you need to clear your head on New Year’s Day, where better than the beautiful Regent’s Park – a 410 acre green space in the centre of the city. And if it’s a little retail therapy you want during the January sales, then Oxford Street and Harrods are nearby, too.

2. Maida Vale
Ideal for: Families, concerts, festive markets
If you’re travelling to London for New Year’s Eve then you’ll arrive just in time to take in the final days of London’s Winter Wonderland, which is held in Hyde Park, just south of Maida Vale. The park is transformed for Christmas with more than 100 rides, along with festive markets and music events taking place until the 3rd of January – ideal for a family New Year’s Eve break.

But if it’s a party you’re looking for, then you’re also close to the electric Camden and Soho, which come alive on New Year’s Eve with many music events and festivities taking place in the areas’ packed bars and nightclubs.
A Spot of Retail Therapy
If it’s shopping you’re after and a trip to the January sales, then Maida Vale is a great option, too, with the likes of Harrods and Oxford Street only a few tube stops away. This area is perfect for a variety of London new year breaks, and you’ll be sure to keep all the family happy basing yourself in this area in north-west London, just outside the centre.

3. South Kensington
Perfect for: Families, romantic getaways, parks, shopping trips
The area is home to the city’s Museums Quarter and every year the Natural History Museum hosts a famous party, with DJs, musical bingo, a silent disco and other festivities among the exhibition spaces. This year is no different, with a Jurassic-themed shindig.
Combine Excellent Dining With Luxury Shopping
There are also some excellent restaurants in the area, perfectly for a pre-party meal and you are close to some excellent shopping districts, including Oxford Street and Harrod’s is nearby – perfect to source yourself a bargain in the January sales.
Relax and Restore
Meanwhile, there are a number of excellent green spaces nearby for a New Year’s Day stroll, including the stunning Hyde Park – a 350-acre green space, which is also home to the Winter Wonderland, so you can make the most of the festive stalls, rides and bars in the park too.
This area is excellently placed to make the most of lots of New Year’s Eve events in London, with the main fireworks display only a 10 minute tube ride away, and you’ve got lots of museums and galleries on your doorstep should you fancy a relaxing and cultural start to the New Year.

Fantastic for: Club night, romantic breaks
Bermondsey, just south of the River Thames, near London Bridge and The Shard, is another cracking option for New Year’s Eve.
Dance the Night Away
A number of major electronic music events are being held in the area over the New Year’s period at Printworks, a former publishing house, which is now home to one of the UK’s leading live electronic music venues.
Its central, riverside location also makes it a great spot to stay to soak up the London’s NYE fireworks 2022, but it’s not right in the thick of things, meaning that you can more easily escape for some relative peace and quiet afterwards.
A Cruise Down the River
Bermondsey is very well-connected to many popular dining and drinking areas, and what’s more, many boats on the Thames that offer romantic New Year in London packages dock nearby. These packages typically include both meals and live music.
Scratch that Winter Market Itch
There are many fantastic bars and restaurants in the area too, with the nearby Borough Market hosting festive events throughout December – the perfect place to warm up with a mulled wine before you see in the New Year.

If you want to be right in the thick of things for London’s New Year’s Eve celebrations, then Southbank, near the London Eye, is perfect for you. It’s here where the city’s world-famous fireworks display takes place and there are also many festive markets alongside the riverside.
An Experience to Remember
The Southbank Centre Arts Venue is transformed for New Year’s Eve, with the Royal Festival Hall hosting DJs, orchestras and other spine-tingling performances. It’s certain to be packed with revelers around this part of London, who will be dancing in the streets throughout the night.
If you’re looking for a more relaxing trip, then this isn’t the best place, but it’s ideal for the party goers amongst us, and there are plenty of hotel options nearby.

Well-placed for: Live concerts and music events, tourist attractions
This area in central London is the perfect base to make the most of the many festivities that the city has to offer.
Bustling Bars and Bistros
It’s only a short tube ride to The Thames, so you can enjoy the fireworks displays there, or you can head slightly east to the bustling, creative hub of Shoreditch – where many local bars and music venues are hosting events over the NYE period.
One of Europe’s most iconic nightclubs, Fabric, is also located in the area and hosting a major electronic music event – with world-renowned house DJs taking to the decks. There’s also a vast array of tasty restaurants in the surrounding area, it’s close to many of the city’s top tourist attractions and there are many fantastic hotels and other places to stay, too.

7. Covent Garden
Amazing for: Theatre, fireworks, dining
If you’re wondering how to spend New Year’s in London, then look no further than Covent Garden to soak up multiple attractions in one night.
Lots of the city’s top West-End theatres are based nearby, many of which are offering New Year’s Eve London packages, including both a meal and show tickets.
After the performances it’s only a short stroll down to the River Thames, where you’ll be able to catch the fireworks display or you can walk north to Soho, where countless bars will be packed with revellers drinking in the NYE atmosphere.
